A Letter From Our Vice President of Intellectual Development
Hi! My name is Cathy Stockstill, and I am so humbled and honored to serve as this year’s Vice President of Intellectual Development. Alpha Chi Omega never fails to give its members a place to explore and follow their passions, and encourages all to excel through constant support and resources to help us achieve our goals.
From the moment I stepped into Alpha Chi Omega during recruitment, I felt that something was different about the house- in the best way. As I looked around the room, I saw strong women who put others before themselves, who pushed themselves to seek the heights, and who did everything passionately with heart. I could tell instantly that Alpha Chi Omega’s members embodied the woman I wanted to grow to be at the end of my collegiate experience. This house aligns with my values and represents a place where I know I will be poured into and pushed beyond what I thought I could achieve. As a rising senior looking back on my freshman self, I can visibly see the changes and the growth that I can attribute to the members of this house. Alpha Chi Omega has shaped me into the woman I am today, and I am beyond grateful to be a part of this house. My expectations of my college experience and of myself have been exceeded. I have found girls I never knew I needed and excelled beyond what I thought was capable of. None of this would have been possible without the support from Alpha Chi Omega.
Throughout my time as an Alpha Chi Omega, I have had many role models in the house who have helped me keep my eyes set on my goals and supported me in achieving them. I have had members there for me when I needed them most, pouring into me without having to ask. Their support has come in the extra encouragement I needed to apply for leadership positions I now hold, recommendations within my major, and taking me to get a sweet treat after a long week. Our house provides resources to help our members reach their highest potentials such as resume reviews, mock interviews and everyday mentorship unlike any other organization I have ever been a part of.
I decided to run for the position of Vice President of Intellectual Development because I wanted to encourage others to succeed and get involved as older Alpha Chis had done for me. I want to challenge our members to redefine success as the natural result of continuous self-improvement, driven by a passion for new opportunities, a commitment to academic excellence, and a dedication to meaningful involvement. I strive to help each and every member excel academically, find opportunities that excite them, and grow into the best versions of themselves—confident in their potential, inspired by their passions, and supported every step of the way. I’m excited for the year ahead and grateful for the opportunity to serve this house, grow alongside its members, and uplift others, inspiring success in every way I can!
Cathy Stockstill, VP Intellectual Development

Whether in the classroom, on campus, or in the community, our girls make a point to be involved and give back.
Chapter Honors
Alpha Chi Omega is proud to be the recipient of the Kathleen Cramer Homecoming Spirit Cup for the fifth year in a row. Along with this great honor we were awarded the National Council Trophy that is given to the chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, among 148 chapters nationwide, that has the highest cumulative score based on achievements, chapter management, member support and development.
Academic Honors
Academic excellence is something that our chapter values greatly and strives for each semester. Through all of our members' hard work in the Spring of 2024 we were able to achieve an average overall GPA of 3.82 that is the highest of all APA sororities, higher than the all APA GPA, all sorority GPA, all greek GPA, all undergraduate women GPA, and all undergraduate GPA. This hard work has allowed us to be in the top three academic sororities for over thirty years, sustaining the legacy that prior members have left on our chapter and campus. In the Fall of 2024, 226 of our members, or 47% of our chapter, were on the President’s List for achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA, and 161 of our members or 33% of our chapter on the Dean’s List for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above. This means that 80% of our chapter maintained a GPA of 3.5 or above in the Spring of 2023. Due to our members’ academic success, each spring our members are recognized with membership into some of the top honor societies on campus such as Anderson Society, Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Blue Key, Cardinal Key, and Lambda Sigma. In addition, many of our members are part of prestigious programs offered at the University of Alabama such as the University Fellows Experience, Randall Research Scholars, McCollough Institute for Pre-Medical Scholars, Blount Scholars Program, STEM Path to the MBA, CREATE Path to the MBA, Shelby Scholars Program, and the Blackburn Institute. We are so proud of all of our members' success and cannot wait to see what they accomplish academically this upcoming year!
Campus Leadership
Alpha Chi Omega takes pride in the great and varied involvement of our members and their leadership in these organizations. Many of our members are not only involved in other organizations but are running them. We have members elected into Student Government Association as senators in their respective colleges and serving on Lobby Board, Judicial Board, and Vice Presidential Cabinets. We are home to women serving campus on the Panhellenic Executive Board and as Capstone Women, including the Vice President of Operations. Additionally, we have members involved in and on the executive boards of Honors College Ambassadors, Business Honor Society, Greek Ambassadors, Capstone College of Nursing Ambassadors, Student Admissions Ambassadors, College of Arts and Sciences Ambassadors, Student Alumni Ambassadors, and many more. Last year, 7 of our members were initiated into the Order of the Omega, and 2 members were named Order of the Omega’s Most Outstanding Freshman and 1 was named Most Outstanding Junior. Each year we have members tapped into the premier all women’s honor society, the XXXI. While these are a few highlights of what our members are involved in, the breadth of involvement of the members of our chapter continues to grow each year and we are so proud of our members excellent leadership in our community and beyond.
Community Involvement
Alpha Chi Omegas are not only involved on the University of Alabama campus but in the Tuscaloosa community as a whole. We are proud to have student athletes on The University of Alabama Dance Team, The University of Alabama Cheer Team, The University of Alabama Field Hockey Team, and The University of Alabama Hockey Team, as well as many members participating in intramural and club athletics. In addition, we have members involved in Crimson Chaos, and members interning for Alabama Athletics as Marketing Interns. While many of our members are passionate about our philanthropic cause, Domestic Violence Awareness, our members are also involved with other philanthropic causes.
